Open Shelving
Optimized filing is achieved through utilization of open shelf (library style) shelving, for space utilization and filing efficiency.
Open shelf file systems provide more than double the filing capacity of drawer filing systems. By having folders immediately visible, without opening drawers, filing procedures are much faster.
Side view (end tab) folders are most commonly used for open-shelf filing, with the file index information along the folders visible edges. Color-coding of each file’s primary index (name or number) is best-practice and most efficient.
