BankUnited has $90 billion + in assets, is traded on the NYSE and maintains approximately 550,000 file folder records for the individuals and organizations that do business with the bank. An outdated FoxPro database became unstable and unsupportable, and lacked modern tracking technologies and records management functionality. The bank was under significant pressure to implement a modern records management solution to meet internal and auditor requirements.

SmartTraxx RFID was implemented, including the initial population of 550,000 records to the networked database and to the portable RFID/bar code scanner. Legacy and new folders are being labeled with RFID color-coded side-view labels. Folders are checked In and Out of the filing system using RFID scanners and missing folders are found with the portable RFID scanner. Now BankUnited has the features that optimize the department's functions and responsibilities with enterprise-class database management software and RFID technology.
